Global Youth Forum: World Wide Awe!

Thursday, July 9, 7:30 p.m.
What isn't happening at WMCAT? should be the question on most people's lips these days as they continue to evolve and wow our locals with everything from their partnerships in the revitalization of our parkland to Ambrose's social innovation work. Its latest partnership is with Steelcase and University Prep Academy as they welcome teens from Cluj Romania and Monterey, Mexico to Grand Rapids next week.

According to organizers within WMCAT and Steelcase, each of the three teams of teens has been working independently and collaboratively around the topic of  "How Might We Encourage our Peers to Be More Sustainable?"

The students have skyped each month since March to produce a virtual collaborative environment much like businesses often do these days, all the while remaining in their respective countries…until this next week, when they will meet in person here in Grand Rapids.

UPDATE: Due to a visa matter, the Romanian teens will not be able to make the event. The organizers are promising that a solution will be worked out in the coming weeks after this event.

The Thursday evening gathering on July 9 is for the community to join the teens at this international reception at WMCAT. Each of the teams will present their projects to the public at this rare and sure-to-inspire event. Bring the kids, of course!

The Wege Foundation and Consumers Energy are also sponsors of this fantastic event.
