Chicago's Goodman Theatre warmly reviews play penned, set in Grand Rapids

"Smokefall," a new play penned in Grand Rapids by Noah Haidle and set in the city as well, opened last week to warm reviews at Chicago's Goodman Theatre. 

According to the article:

This beautiful thing is like a Michigan-based "Our Town," penned by and for a generation where Emily and George struggle to move out of the basement.

Haidle's characters wander far and wide — through time, actually, since his play ranges backward and forward as it follows three generations of a Grand Rapids family, showing us their past, present and future. At least one character does not age with the ebb and flow of the years.
