Hutt Logistics expands cold storage capabilities, adds new jobs in West Michigan

Hutt Logistics, a West Michigan-based trucking, logistics and warehousing company, has announced a new Hudsonville warehouse that will add 67,000 square feet of cold food storage to the West Michigan market and increase its overall warehouse space to more than one million square feet. The company will also create at least 15 new jobs with the new space.

Jim Hutt, president, says West Michigan has a long tradition of trucking, logistics and warehousing. He says the the marketplace is very competitive but his firm has been able to ride out the ebb and flow of the economy and successfully differentiate themselves by emphasizing temperature-controlled storage and transportation. “We haul frozen and deep frozen products such as ice cream and frozen novelties,” Hutt says. “We have been through the ups and downs, but we try to keep our business scaling at a level that allows us to grow now and in the future. We see a very bright future.”

James Hutt, director of operations, says more jobs are anticipated to be created in the near future as the new facility nears capacity. Currently, the cold storage warehouse can hold over 7,500 pallets and is already more than 80 percent full.
