28th Annual Sand Sculpture Contest – Build Your Dream Castle on the Big Lake

For more than  a quarter of a century, the city of Grand Haven has been honoring the time tested beach activity of building sculpture out of sand, and on Saturday the residents and trunk slammers will pack the Grand Haven City Beach to witness some of the best sand artists in the world as they compete for the top honors including a People’s Choice award.

The fast paced 28th Annual Sand Sculpture Contest has a time limit of just two-hours for team members to create their masterpieces, so be sure to wear comfortable flip-flops as you dash up and down the beach taking in all the excitement as it unfolds before your eyes.

The event with more than five different categories even welcomes last minute entries, be sure to arrive between 9-9:45 AM to register  if you or your family want to be a part of this event.  (The PDF form can be downloaded from the link above.)

After the event, it would be most appropriate to stroll down Grand Haven’s historic downtown where one can score some art, more sunscreen or indulge in a homemade meal at a locally owned business like the always-popular Kirby Grill.
