The Grand Rapids office of legal firm Varnum recently welcomed two new attorneys, Conor Dugan and Kyle Konwinski. Both will be members of the Litigation and Trial Services Practice Group. Dugan is a former clerk for then-judge Samuel A. Alito, Jr. of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit and attorney for the Department of Justice. Konwinski received his J.D. from the University of Michigan Law School and went on to clerk for the Honorable Gordon J. Quist of the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Michigan.

Larry Murphy, managing partner at Varnum, cites an uptick in the economy reflected in the increased work levels as contributing to the growth of the firm. In particular, he points to the increased activity in emerging industries such as alternative energy, food processing and agribusiness.  He also says the firm “is always in the market for top drawer talent and is very pleased with the recent hires.”

In the battle for top talent, Murphy says that the quality of life in West Michigan is a huge asset for their recruiters. He says the city’s vibrancy is a pleasant surprise for both those new to the area and those looking to return after living elsewhere.

Varnum provides a broad range of legal services, with more than 150 attorneys in five offices. To learn more about Varnum, you can visit their site here.
