General store opens up in Holland

A new business in downtown Holland is striving for a retro-feel while providing everyday basics.

According to excerpts from the Holland Sentinel:

Downtown Holland has it all — well, maybe not everything, but now it has a grocer and general store.

The idea of starting a business had been a “spark” in Park Township’s Owen family for several years, said patriarch Kelly Owen. When he was laid off from his construction job in August 2010, the family fanned the flames. Kelly’s Market opened Friday at 25 W. Ninth St.

The market is open now, with some grocery store staples, including fresh fruits and vegetables, gluten-free food, health and beauty supplies, pet food and general household items such as light bulbs, duct tape and motor oil.
