Grand Haven considers overhauling public safety building
The public safety building in Grand Haven was not designed for its current use, resulting in inefficiencies that inhibit the flow of information and the organization of the public safety office. City officials are considering a complete redesign of the facility.
According to excerpts from the story:
When Grand Haven’s public safety building was constructed in 1975, it was designed for separate police and fire departments. The city merged the two divisions into a Department of Public Safety in 1993, but the building was never reconfigured to accommodate the combined entity.
With the help of a Holland architectural firm, city officials are now looking at a complete redesign of the building.
Brian Butkis of GMB Architects introduced a space needs study done for the building to Grand Haven City Council at its Monday night meeting.
