Membership triples in GR’s Alliance for Women Entrepreneurs

Membership in the Alliance of Women Entrepreneurs has nearly tripled in just four years. Women entrepreneurs are outpacing men in starting businesses and find business support in the relationships they build through their involvement in AWE.

While West Michigan’s economic growth has remained chilly over the past few years, one organization has enjoyed a sizzling expansion – the Alliance for Women Entrepreneurs.

AWE’s Grand Rapids area membership has nearly tripled, from 45 members to 120 members in the last four years. And that doesn’t count about 50 other businesswomen who have joined AWE’s three new Michigan chapters that were formed during that time.

Mary Tabin, attorney with Rhoades-McKee PC and Grand Rapids AWE President, attributes the tremendous surge to the fact that women are eager to support other women in business and to learn from each other how to build successful organizations.
