Traditionally I try to avoid covering any fundraisers in G-Sync Events unless it fits a pretty distinct profile. Of course, my event’s code, like Tim Cook of Apple, is proprietary so don’t look for me to reveal it anytime soon.

However, since March is Women’s History Month, and we are staring down (yet again) a host of perennial stories on income inequality, this should provide a window of understanding to my system’s code.

And since I am a fan of locals working to set society’s imbalances right, Girls Rock! Grand Rapids! on the occasion of their third annual big bowling event at the westside’s The Clique, makes including them a fitting event choice this weekend.

If you do go, be prepared to sweat as you bowl away the afternoon to make a brighter tomorrow for our city’s girls.

The money raised on Sunday afternoon will ensure that Girls Rock! Grand Rapids! will continue to offer their week-long summer camp where girls and women are empowered through the art of music and its creation.

Girls Rock! Grand Rapids! – a program of the Grandville Avenue Arts & Humanities (GAAH) – ensures that girls get to participate in instrument lessons, music workshops, band forming, song writing, and logo and album art creation.

When these girls are not being mentored by area female musicians, they are able to enjoy performances by other women musicians from around Grand Rapids.

Let’s bowl for a better future and support Girls Rock! Grand Rapids! this Sunday.

Admission: $5 for ages 8+ (covers shoes, bowling and snacks provided by volunteers)
