Rapid Delivery Improv: That Fresh Comic Smell

Last week while in San Francisco, I discovered firsthand what I have long suspected: talent indeed travels. No, I am not talking about my journey, but about the way my phone blew up upon landing at SFO with a text from a member of Grand Rapids’ Don’t We Boys (DWB) comic troupe announcing that they were to perform at the 14^th annual SF Sketchfest on Saturday night.
 
The DWB with their single text confirmed that our region is in a comic renaissance, as more and more people come to learn that Grand Rapids has some very funny bones among us. Joining our local improvisational comic families, Pop Scholars and River City Improv, comes a new troupe performing as Rapid Delivery Improv.
 
Beta tested last fall, RDI arrives back on the stage ready to begin a multi-week run, with shows every Thursday night into March. Improv theatre is popular with our locals folks, as improv comic shows are always made fresh and crowds enjoy the good clip, fast-paced, audience-suggested, grown-up shows.
 
This new comic troupe, directed by Bart Sumner, is very excited to be at a brand new location: The Rezervoir Lounge on the city’s northeast side. Each show is 90 minutes long and contains uncensored comedy based on grown-up suggestions. The troupe describes their approach as “No Scripts! – On The Spot Comedy.”
