The Cooley Law School Innocence Project, in partnership with Warner Norcross + Judd LLP, hosted a free panel discussion on Oct. 2 at the Warner’s Downtown Grand Rapids office with exonerees of the Innocence Project, the only post-conviction DNA innocence organization in the state of Michigan.

Free Media Literacy Summit aims to increase community knowledge and experiences

The inaugural Media Literacy Summit, hosted by GRTV of the Grand Rapids Community Media Center and the Grand Rapids Public Library, is a free event providing hands-on experiences, panel discussions, and workshops led by renowned professionals in media literacy. There will be four immersive workshops educating attendees about the media creation process. The summit takes place on at the Wealthy Theatre 9:30 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday, May 13.

Using art as therapy to deal with the trauma of homelessness

The art therapy program that Mel Trotter Ministries offers, in connection with Heartside Ministry, serves as a needed outlet for the unhoused community shared through the organizations, which merged in January 2020.

Momentum continues to build, Grand Rapids Economic Development Director Jeremiah Gracia shared, highlighting that the city “now [has its] 3rd highest year in development construction value permits.”
