First tenant opens doors in Grand Rapids’ new $23M Women’s Health Center

Baby Beloved Inc., a medical office that provides professional lactation services and products to nursing mothers, is the first tenant to open its doors in the new Women’s Health Center of West Michigan, located at Michigan St. and Union Avenue. The Center is one of just a few medical facilities in the country dedicated exclusively to women’s health care.

Baby Beloved opened last week after relocating from its previous office near Breton Village. In addition to providing support to moms who have challenges breastfeeding their babies or maintaining an adequate milk supply, the shop also features a retail store.

“We have everything you can think of to support breastfeeding,” says Kelly Wysocki-Emery, owner and one of two nurses who provide patient care. “We have pumps, nursing bras, creams, herbs and infant carriers that keep the baby close to you to make breastfeeding easier.”

The 1,300-square-foot office includes the retail space, a private consultation room, two dressing rooms and administrative offices. Natural light filters through the east-facing windows and the glass wall facing the rotunda on the interior of the building.

“We’ll also be a milk bank for Bronson Hospital in Kalamazoo,” Wysocki-Emery adds. “Beginning in mid-July, moms can drop off their breast milk here and Bronson will send the donations to NICUs all over for premature infants. The babies do so much better on human milk.

“This building is a one-stop shop for moms coming for OB/GYN appointments,” she notes. “They can come right downstairs and get everything they need to get ready for the birth and to get prepared to start nursing.”
