EarthTronics is nearly ready to leave the nest.
By year’s end, the Muskegon-based energy efficient lighting company will move from its incubator space at GVSU’s Michigan Alternative and Renewable Energy Center to its new global headquarters, a 10,500-square-foot space in the recently completed Hines Building in downtown Muskegon.
“We’re excited to support the downtown and we see a lot of things happening” says Reg Adams, EarthTronics owner. “As we see more people coming downtown we’ll really see ‘if you build it they will come.’ The downtown is getting a new facelift thanks to a lot of work being done. Right now I’m looking out our new boardroom window at the new Richard Hunt statute in the city center.”
The company is investing $400,000 into the new facility, which will house finance, customer service, sales and marketing, advanced engineering and a technical support center. Most of the firm's manufacturing operations is based in China.
“The look will be contemporary and each room will be a display for EarthTronic’s lighting products,” Adams adds. “The kitchen has kitchen- type lighting, the boardroom has boardroom lighting. The whole space will be a combined working space and showroom.”
The Hines Building, located at 380 Western Ave., is also the new home of the Muskegon Area Chamber of Commerce, Muskegon Area First, SCORE and other civic organizations, plus 10,000 square feet of retail/restaurant space on the main level.
Developers expect the building to receive LEED certification.
