Fairmount Square project brings suburban developer into the city

Eastbrook Homes has broken ground on the company's first urban development, 35 townhomes slated for Fairmount Square. The townhomes, all duplexes and triplexes, are situated adjacent to the newly renovated D.A. Blodgett Home for Children, now the home of the Inner City Christian Federation (ICCF).

“This is our first opportunity to get involved in an urban setting,” said Bob Sorensen, Eastbrook’s Corporate Development President. “It’s a way for us to contribute to a different market that has been underserved by new construction in the past."

The company broke ground on the first residence, which will serve as the townhome model and will be completed in time for the 2008 Parade of Downtown Living tour in June.

The townhomes front along Hollister and Cherry streets and feature a variety of facades and elevations to complement the historic East Hills neighborhood. The three floor plans range from 764 square feet to 1,436 square feet, with one to four bedrooms. Each residence is Energy Star Plus certified. Prices start at $145,000.

With every townhome purchase, Eastbrook will donate a per-sale cash award two area nonprofit organizations, the ICCF, and Home Repair Services.

"The Fairmount Square Giving Back Awards underscore our desire to assist and support the communities we serve," says Mick McGraw, Eastbrook CEO.
