The Last Chance Saloon, a favorite local pub on the city's southeast side, is getting bigger and better. Owner Jimmy Holt recently launched a major renovation project that involves a complete renovation of the building façade, the installation of modern windows and new bathrooms, as well as the addition of a full-service kitchen. An expanded menu will feature a wider selection of sandwiches, salads, and snacks.
The move comes in response to pressing competition from a revived downtown entertainment scene and an onslaught of corporate chain restaurants that have recently opened across the city. "We could either get out or do something drastic," Holt said. "We decided to do something drastic."
The Last Chance, located at 1132 Burton SE, remains open during construction. When completed, the renovation will add an additional 800 sq feet of new space to the bar, which was originally opened in 1975. The project also includes a significant parking lot expansion.
