A credit union with a history of serving customers who work in the healthcare industry broke ground yesterday near the corner of Michigan Street and Lafayette amidst hundreds of millions of dollars worth of new hospitals, medical labs, and classrooms. Lake Michigan Credit Union (LMCU), 342 Michigan, is positioning its new branch to serve employees who work in the emerging health hub.
The contemporary 4,000-square-foot building has a two-story glass wall that will face Michigan Street, and a second glass wall facing Prospect.
LMCU plans to offer a 24/7 drive up ATM, two drive-through lanes, and five teller stations. The branch will offer lending, mortgage, insurance, and investment services.
"We have looked at the overall growth of downtown Grand Rapids and know where we need to be to provide the most convenient services to our members," says Julie Blitchok, VP of operations and marketing.
