Patina Antiques started in the Creston Neighborhood, moved to the East Fulton business district for a year, and this week opened as Patina Antiques Boutique at 1503 Lake Drive SE in Grand Rapids’ Eastown. In addition to antique furniture and new home décor items, the store now offers vintage jewelry and vintage and new women’s clothing.
“Eastown has been a fond memory of mine,” says Lori Brant, store manager and part of the shop’s mother/daughter duo; her mother, Karen Brant, owns the business. “I started Bluedoor Antiques here 10 years ago. I moved back to Eastown because this is where I started. The space I wanted was never available, and now it is.”
The 1,200-square-foot space was move-in ready and needed only the addition of a fitting room. Customers can select from women's vintage winter jackets and dresses in a variety of sizes, shoes, holiday cocktail dresses, and a selection of suits, sweaters and slacks.
“I still offer antiques, mostly furniture, and have added a line of reproduction vintage giftware, Lucy Liu key chains and jewelry and two handbag lines,” Brant says.
The store also features high-end vintage jewelry dating from the 1940s and before, collected by local jewelry aficionado Jan Geary.
“It’s like the one-stop shop for gift items and home décor,” Brant says. “And I feel like I’ve come back home to Eastown.”
