After eight months, the state-of-the-art conference and reception center proposed for the The WaterMark complex at 920 Washington in Muskegon is moving toward a summer 2008 completion date.

The developers of WaterMark 920 have secured a liquor license and have signed on The Lister Group, owners of The Hearthstone Bistro and catering, to oversee bookings, event management, and to be the exclusive caterers.

“We’re in the process of finalizing the design plans and will go out for invitation-only construction bids about mid-February,” says Sarah Rooks, project manager. “We’ve been working diligently to get it all moving, it just doesn’t move as fast as we’d like.”

The 11,000-square-foot facility will feature satellite conferencing and web streaming technologies in a contemporary urban setting with seating for up to 500 people. The space will accommodate smaller gatherings, such as bridal showers or business luncheons to large wedding receptions and business seminars.

The menu includes everything from light fare and appetizers to full sit-down dinners, plus a full bar.

WaterMark Lofts broke ground in 2004 to renovate the one million square feet of the former Shaw Walker furniture factory. To-date 85,000 square feet has been re-fashioned into 53 urban residential condominiums.
