Dockers, a longtime waterfront eatery, closed its doors in 2005 leaving prime property and restaurant space vacant. Amid much local excitement, a major renovation has given the restaurant a contemporary look where diners can relax and enjoy views of the water.

According to excerpts from the story:

A team of young restaurateurs is reopening one of the area’s premiere waterfront dining establishments, adding to their growing menu of distinctive restaurants.

Dockers Fish House & Lounge, 3505 Marina View Point, reopened under new ownership and management Tuesday. The restaurant, located among the dunes, condominiums and sailboats at Harbour Towne, now is a Harris Hospitality Group operation.

“People loved Dockers,” Scharmer said. The restaurant has waterfront views from what once was the Pigeon Hill dunes. “There was never a problem of people coming here.”
