Viability Finds Tipping Points on Energy Saving Projects

Energy saving improvements like heat pumps, biomass boilers and curtains can pay for themselves quicker if businesses use a blend of grants, carbon credits and tax incentives, says Chris Byrnes, president of Viability LLC in Holland. And that sort of thinking can be applied worldwide, he says. Though it's a minor project, the firm is investigating whether solar powered lamps are practical alternatives for Africans who use kerosene lanterns to provide light in their homes.
