Think of the great cities of the world, even the smaller ones. The streets and sidewalks are alive with performers, artists, musicians, murals and lots of creative energy. How does downtown Grand Rapids compare?
Urban areas provide a unique opportunity for art. The building facades, close-knit built environments, alleyways, bridge underpasses, vacant buildings and other infrastructure are sometimes just begging for some creative expression. How can Grand Rapids foster more of this?
On July 27, at the new UICA at Fulton and Division, you'll get the opportunity to hear and discuss just that. You'll see presentations from the area's best experts on "Street Art," including muralist Erwin Erkfitz, projection artist Christopher Fox, artist event producer Jenn Schaub, Site:Lab creator Paul Amenta and GVSU Arts Professor Paul Wittenbraker. You'll hear the fun side and the academic side of this discussion, while being able to provide ideas and input comfortably seated in UICA's brand new film theater.
Admission for this panel speaker event is free and totally open to the public. For more info and to RSVP, check out our Facebook event page
