Grand Rapids ranks as a top fishing city

The city placed No. 6 in Field & Stream magazine’s recent listing of best American cities to fish. A cleaner Grand River offers everything from bass and walleye to steelhead and salmon.

You may have noticed anglers fishing from the bridges downtown. This isn’t because they have nowhere to go. There are anglers who ride to the Grand River on their bicycles. And it’s quite common in any park along the Grand River to see anglers standing around in waders.

It is just that kind of urban fishing culture that landed Grand Rapids in the top 10 fishing cities in the country. GR is listed as the No. 6 Fishing City in America in Field &Stream magazine’s July edition, which came out this week. The article is: “America‘s Best Fishing Cities.”
