George Clinton & Parliament Funkadelic: Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee farewell stop in GR

Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

20 Monroe Live, 11 Ottawa Ave. NW

Friday, July 19, 7:00 p.m. (doors), 8:00 p.m. (show time)

Just three days ahead of his 78th birthday, Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee (1997) George Clinton, along with Parliament Funkadelic, will be in Grand Rapids to blaze some stank up on the stage at 20 Monroe for his One Nation Under a Groove Tour.

This iconic performer, whose roots reach back to the early days of Motown, has since gone on to form his own projects as well as other acts whose music will light up the stage with fan-favorite classics like “Atomic Dog,” “Give Up the Funk (Tear the Roof off the Sucker),” “Flashlight,” and “One Nation Under a Groove.”

For fans who have been following his work, these modern concerts are so much more than just a chance to see the legend live. Clinton is clearly grooming the next generation to continue on the legacy of his music. This is evident by his extended family of musicians who accompany him on stage linking many generations of performers.

Supporting Clinton/Parliament Funkadelic will be Dumpstaphunk, Miss Velvet, and The Blue Wolf. (Please note that support acts are subject to change).

While I have seen Clinton three times in my lifetime from the seats to (standing on) my feet, I strongly recommend bypassing on the reserved mezzanine seating if mobility is not an issue, since the general admission standing room floor at 20 Monroe Live is the very best value in my opinion to maximize your concert experience.

Tickets to George Clinton’s final tour stop in Grand Rapids can be purchased here or at the box office.
