German manufacturer to add 60, move HQ to Kentwood

Söhnergroup, a German high-tech company, is relocating the North American headquarters of subsidiary GRW Technologies, to Kentwood and expanding its GRW Technologies operations in Kentwood.

The move will result in 50 new employees being hired and 10 moving from Germany. The North American headquarters is currently located in Winchester, Va. The move is expected to occur in the first three months of next year. It expects to grow its workforce to as many as 150 employees by the end of 2008.

GRW Technologies is a precision injection molding company and Söhnergroup makes medical devices, electronics and communication components.

GRW also will transfer assets valued at $3 million and invest approximately $1.7 million to lease and equip a 42,000-square-foot facility.

“West Michigan stands out as an ideal location for our business with its highly skilled workforce and strong work ethic,” said Walter Gebert, president of GRW Technologies said in a statement “As one who has previously run two technology companies in the Grand Rapids area, I found and our corporate leadership agreed, that these attributes were most important for our future growth.”
