This Friday night is probably the best night to wear your board shorts and shag dance on a work of art.  While most galleries would normally frown on this activity, the Grand Rapids Art Museum is encouraging people to come out for the kick off of its new summer series, GRAM on the Green.

Starting right at the 5 o’clock whistle, the surf sounds of Grand Rapids favorite beach band, The Concussions, will cascade over Maya Lin’s Ecliptic Park, casting a spell that your hips will not be able to resist.

The four-member band is well known in this region not just for its high energy and vinyl reminiscent sounding tunes, but also their flair for fashion as they often don wildly creative attire.

After the concert, guests are encouraged to stick around and wander the GRAM but return later at 7:45 PM for swing, ballroom and line dancing at the circle.  There will even be instructors on site to assist on this evening of music and art.

Admission: Plaza and Park activities are Free

Galleries, Auditorium and Terrace access only $5 for non-members. Members Free.
