It is no secret that Grand Rapidians love nostalgia. Personally, I think we do a little too much that this constant backward glance can get in the way of creative progress as many artists seek to move us into future spaces.
That said, I do think there are those who work within this space who not only understand the challenges but also set out to create a program to make sure they keep it fresh as they evolve this area of entertainment.
Jef Leppard is one such local artist who continues to spin classics from the 70s through the 90s and does so in a way that continues to build fans in our region of his shows.
Part of his freshness is due to the fact that Jef Leppard is so much more than just a DJ. Not only does he spin great tunes, but he always brings with him a visual show that entertains as well as delights those who may not have experienced this distinct music culture firsthand due to, well, not being born during that era.
This latest curated series is titled
Retro 2.0 and will be popping up at the Southside’s new Metro Grand Rapids on October 3 starting at 9 p.m.
