Davenport targets health information industry, which is growing 40 percent annually
With the Smart Zone health corridor growing by leaps and bounds, Davenport University is meeting the challenge of preparing students for careers in health information management, a profession expected to grow 40% in the next 10 years.
According to excerpts from the story:
To prepare students for what the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics cites as one of the 20 fastest-growing occupations in the United States, Davenport University this fall began offering a bachelor’s degree program in health information management (HIM) and has established a health information management division.
The new program is meant to prepare students to assume an emerging, key role in making the healthcare system work as professionals in one of the fastest growing career fields today. The program also incorporates the latest technology with a virtual lab project. It will be available through Davenport online and also at Davenport’s Grand Rapids-Fulton Street, Dearborn, and Saginaw locations.
