Artists rally for catholic schools

Imagerie Gallery is hosting the works of area catholic school grads in celebration of Catholic Secondary School’s 100th birthday. Half of the sales proceeds will be donated to the Grand Rapids Catholic Secondary Schools.

Excerpts from the story:

“There will be works from a 1940s graduate to some as recent as two years ago,” said Richard App, Catholic Central class of ’87 and owner of Imagerie Gallery. “That’s a 60-year window, which is exciting.”

The centerpiece is a 60-pound sculpture that was not made by an alumnus but has a Catholic connection. Jubilee Angel is a limited-edition bronze statue donated by an Oregon studio and reproduced from the original, which is at the Vatican. It will be sold through a silent auction that ends April 28.
