Grand Rapids-based tech firm
Blue Medora has received $1.25 in investments from two local sources, allowing for significant expansion in 2013.
Blue Medora, which develops extensions for IBM and Oracle enterprise software, received $500,000 from
Start Garden and $750,000 from
Grand Angels.
According to Blue Medora CEO Nathan Owen, the investment will allow the firm to develop new products and add staff. "We currently have 22 staff [and] expect to grow up to 35 by summer 2013. The positions include software engineers, QA engineers, project managers, and product managers."
Blue Medora, founded in 2007, is a joint venture with local software firm Atomic Object (AO). In what AO founder Carl Erickson referred to as "incubating," the two teams worked together in AO's offices to develop the software and build the business during the early years, helping to reduce inherent startup risks.
