Zeeland Lumber & Supply is celebrating two years of growth with Zeeland Truss & Components, a roof truss and wall panel manufacturing facility in Wyoming, Mich.
This growth includes the addition of 50 employees in the last two years, 20 of which were added in the last six months.
According to Tony Huver, marketing manager, the job growth is not only a testament to the recovering economy, but to Zeeland Lumber & Supply's decision to invest in a new, larger facility in the middle of the building downturn.
"People are ready to build again," he says. "What is coming out of the truss plant are residential and commercial jobs. People are comfortable that the recovery will be sustainable."
Huver also says the investment in the new facility was a calculated risk that is now paying off. "We made the decision to move the truss facility from Hamilton to Wyoming. We took the downturn as an opportunity to invest internally. When the economy rebounded, we were ahead of the curve and ready for growth. We are very happy to be part of Michigan's recovery."
To celebrate the two-year anniversary of the Wyoming facility, the firm is holding an
open house on Friday, June 21 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. You can register online for a tour
