Virtual assistance firm adds five jobs in 2012, moves to bigger facility

LongerDays.com took an overseas model of providing outsourced services and brought it to the U.S. The business targets small businesses and provides them with an array of services.

According to founder Chad Lawie, LongerDays specialties are web development, graphic design, content creation, office administration and receptionist services, with clients spread all throughout the country. He says that has been business booming with triple figure growth every year since the company began in 2010. "We now have 15 people on staff, which includes the five people we hired this year," he says.

Lawie explains the idea for the business came while he was on an extended sailing vacation with his wife. While at a port of call, he had a discussion with someone who was using a virtual assistance firm, but was dissatisfied with the level of service. They agreed the idea was good, but the execution was poor.

One aspect of the LongerDays business model that is different from many other U.S.-based virtual assistance services is that his company uses an office setting, while others are typically home-based. Working with the MI-SBDTC to locate office space, Lawie was able to identify an opportunity to set up shop in the technology arm of MAREC, a Muskegon-based business incubator. Lawie feels the office environment adds to the level of professionalism and, in turn, provides a higher quality of service for his clients.
