Hope Network recently acquired an Oakland County-based health services provider that greatly broadens the geographic scope of their services.
According to Phil Weaver, Hope Network's chief executive officer, the acquisition of New Passages, which has several offices in Oakland, Genesee and Macomb counties, is a solid business decision.
"They have unique programs in the outpatient services and it brings east side (of the state) programs to west side, and west side to east side so that we now share strengths," he says.
Besides improving the programming and expanding the geographic reach for Hope Network, the acquisition also will increase administrative efficiencies and reduce long-term delivering services costs.
New Passages' offices will remain in the east side of the state, but through the centralization of technology and several "backroom" functions, a few jobs will be added to the Grand Rapids campus.
Weaver states that this is not the first, nor will it be the last acquisition for Hope Network. "Anytime we can bring organizations together, we can reduce costs. It is better for the people we service."
