Jeffrey C. Kemperman, Aubri N. Sheremet, and Nicholas A. Reister are the new additions to
Smith Haughey Rice & Roegge. According to Matt Wikander, a member of the firm's managing committee and board of directors, each of the new attorneys fills a specific need within their firm's overall growth strategy.
Wikander says that Kamperman and Sheremet are a perfect fit for their organizations' current needs, as both individuals bring a blend of youth and experience. "We have a very traditional set of practices at the firm, especially in Grand Rapids -- heavy in litigation and trial services. It is a high stakes practice where oftentimes, you are on your feet and are defending. Both have extensive trial experience and backgrounds as prosecutors, and are comfortable getting in front of juries."
Reister brings a different skillset to the firm, with a background in trusts, estates, and probate, where Wikander believes there is opportunity for Smith Haughey to expand their services as baby boomers are approaching retirement.
Together, the three new additions reflect a strategic hiring trend. "We have been adding lawyers that have a specific skillet, but are relatively young, but not newbies," Wikander says. "They are skilled and motivated and want to use Smith Haughey as their platform to build their business and grow from a grassroots level."
