Goodwill Industries opened its newest contemporary retail store last weekend, and in the process created 10 new jobs. Company leaders expect several more jobs to follow as opportunities are generated the organization's job training and placement programs.

The new $1.2 million store, located at Plainfield and Four Mile, replaces the former Plainfield Roller Skating Rink with a 14,000-square-foot retail center that includes an optical center and a drive through donation area, making it the second largest Goodwill store in the city.

"Donations and sales at this store will help support our mission of providing job training and placement services to individuals with employment barriers throughout the eight counties we serve," says Dave Brinza, COO.

Company leaders say hundreds of people attended last Saturday's Grand Opening celebration. This is the sixth store constructed using Goodwill's new contemporary design and retail model.

Progressive AE designed the building. Rockford Construction was the construction manager.
