In the past 12 months, Zeeland's StabilityOne has created four new jobs. By mid-2008, the owners hope to add two more positions.
That's a remarkable achievement for Jeremy Berens and Ryan Wallace, the two 25-year-old entrepreneurs who began the business in the Lakeshore Advantage Business Garden in 2005.
The company has been busy collaborating with another Zeeland-based firm, Netstar Communications, to create and launch Netstar, an innovative Voice Over Internet Protocol system for businesses. While they're a full service IT company, the VOIP product is becoming a niche market.
"We've been offering this about a year, but have really pushed it the last three months," says Ryan Wallace, CEO.
Because the phone system runs through a server, rather than a phone box, the system is customizable to fill any need the customer has, including real-time tracking of calls, tracking which employees are on calls, integrating contact lists for one-click dialing, and call conferencing through laptop computers, desktop computers, and cell phones.
"Salespeople working from anyplace in the world that has Internet access can log into the office phone system through their laptop using a headset or 'softphone,'" says Wallace. "The company doesn't have pay to have phone lines hooked up at the employee's home, or even at a sales office."
StabilityOne's technicians log into the system through their cell phones or laptops when they're on a service call, and log off when the service call is done.
"That way, we know how long they were working," Wallace says.
The company plans to hire one communications specialist to work with clients, and one high-level information technician. Wallace estimates the jobs will start at $40,000 to $45,000 a year.
