Last year, the Zeeland Community Hospital moved to its new 57-bed, 140,000-square-foot facility. This year, they're capping off a period of growth that generated 59 jobs in the past 12 months, including seven physician positions.
The hospital hired 46 of the new employees in the past five months. The remaining six job openings are for nurses, laboratory personnel, office staff, and clinical staff for a physician practice.
“As an organization, we are here to serve our community, so we look for individuals who represent the vision and values of our organization and community," says Melissa Kamara Liggins, hospital spokesperson. "We find that our employees are vested in the wellbeing of their community, their neighbors."
The new hospital allowed expansion of services which include the addition of nuclear medicine, birthing rooms, and a host of rehabilitation services including physical therapy, speech pathology, orthopedics, and spinal and sport rehabilitation.
Planners looked ahead in anticipation of future expansion and built enough space in the new facility for expansion of services and additional employees, and space for future construction on the 40-acre site.
