GVSU students promote international business

Two of Grand Valley’s student organizations are sponsoring “Discover Business Abroad,” an evening seminar featuring discussions about cultural challenges faced when doing business overseas.

Vice president of the International Club, Zafar Bazarov, who is co-sponsoring the event along with Beta Alpha Psi, thinks the seminar will be beneficial to students looking to go into business.

“Many businesses are looking for students that are interested in doing business and working with companies overseas,” says Bazarov. “Many students are afraid of foreign business, and we want to show these students that you shouldn’t be, that there are a lot of potential opportunities.

Grand Valley marketing professor Ben Rudolph, Jeff Grim of Deloitte, and Paul Marineau, from Crowe Chizek will all be speaking. Grim will be discussing Japan, and Marineau will be covering Japan.

Many of Grand Valley’s international students will be on hand to offer information regarding their respected home countries.

"Discover Business Abroad" will be held on Nov. 30, from 6-8 p.m. in the Loosemore Auditorium of the DeVos Center, 401 W. Fulton St. in Grand Rapids. Tickets are free and available at the 20/20 Desk in the Kirkhof Center at the Allendale Campus or at the Student Services desk in the DeVos Center.
