Adtegrity.com, a Grand Rapids-based Internet ad brokerage, hired five employees since January 1 and posted a first quarter sales increase of nearly $1 million dollars. Now they aim to hire more.
"We expect that we'll be needing some additional folks toward the end of the year," said owner Scott Brew. "Could be we need one or two people, or we may need six to eight."
In 1999, Adtegrity.com began brokering ads for high traffic web sites. Those sites generate revenue off their audience through banner ads placed on the site – the advertisers pay the site owners to feature the ads. Each time a web user sees an ad, that is called an "impression." Adtegrity.com matches the advertisers with the site owners and sells between seven and twelve billion impressions a month.
Although the business is technology-based, it is relationship driven, Brew said. He expects the recent formation of an Account Management Team to generate increased sales by providing individual account managers for each client. Those managers will handle everything from sales through delivery.
"Our growth is not going to come from thousands of new advertisers," Brew said. "It's going to come from a handful of clients we've built relationships with. Last year we did just under $6.7 million, and we think we'll probably do around $10 million this year."
