Holland packaging manufacturer plans to add 75 jobs

The place just opened on October 22 with 25 employees on board. But things are already hopping at Holland-based Coastal Container. Within the next year, 75 new employees will be on the payroll.

Coastal Container has a 235,000-square-foot facility at 1201 Industrial Avenue. The company designs and manufactures custom corrugated shipping containers for clients who have specific packaging needs to deliver their products to market.

With the capability to test product packaging for 30 different scenarios—like crushing, vibration, and dropping, to name a few—workers can design any size container to meet essentially any shipping need.

President and CEO Brent Patterson say he started the company as a complement to his other business, Coastal Fulfillment.

"Our staff has a lot of experience with corrugated manufacturing, and we wanted to start from a base of best practices," Patterson says. "This facility can set up a straight line production flow that flows straight out the back of the plant to the trucks."

The new jobs will fill positions in all departments, with starting pay based on the type of work and the employee's experience.

"We'll need people from A to Z – sales, customer service, accounting, production, and hand assembly," Patterson says. "We're focused on raising the bar, building an environment where employees are very proud of where they work and they want to be here."
