Grand Rapids firm creates software to help workers find jobs that 'fit'

This week, EmploymentGroup, a Grand Rapids-based staffing company, launched a groundbreaking assessment tool that will help an employer determine if a potential job candidate is a suitable match for the job and the company. SuccessCheck is an online tool used to assess an applicant's general intellectual, emotional, ethical, and personality suitability for a particular position.

There are three parts to the assessment: attitude, personality, and cognitive, and the results, in conjunction with a face-to-face interview, help predict an applicant's potential for success within a company prior to being hired. Because job applicants do the assessment online and take it with them to the interview, it speeds up the testing and interview process.

"SuccessCheck is another example of how we are utilizing technology to identify areas where applicants will be successful," says Linda Miller, CFO. "This enables us to provide quality placements to our clients to help them achieve their goals. And, our applicants benefit from a positive work experience by being placed in a position that matches their needs and expectations."

VCG worked with EmploymentGroup for some 12 months to create and implement the software, integrating with existing software that enables applicants to register on the web site and upload their résumés.

EmploymentGroup will place some 6,900 employees this year. Of those, 800 will be in permanent positions. The company's projected sales for 2007 are $50 million.
