Living up to her pledge "to go anywhere and do anything to bring jobs and investment back to Michigan," Governor Jennifer Granholm will travel to Europe later this month to encourage German companies to invest in Michigan.
"Past investment missions have resulted in companies locating or expanding here, and we are stepping up our efforts to attract new high-tech firms that will create good-paying jobs in automotive R&D, advanced manufacturing, and alternative energy," the governor said in a recent press release.
A past mission to Germany, and two separate trips to Japan, have returned more than $282 million in new investments and more than 1,600 jobs to the Great Lakes State, according to the governor's office.
