Haworth, the Holland based office furniture maker, reported $1.48 billion in sales for 2006, as 7 percent jump from the previous year.
The sales jump illustrates an increasingly strong furniture industry, a major component of the West Michigan economy. Grand Rapids-based Steelcase, for example, expects to do $3 billion in sales in the current fiscal year, according to recent reports in the Grand Rapids Press. And Herman Miller, based in Zeeland, expects approximately $2 billion in 2007 sales.
"We continued to develop momentum in 2006," Franco Bianchi, Haworth president and chief executive, said in a press statement. "Together with our dealer network and relationships with the architect and design communities, Haworth members and our leadership team are finding and proving that there is a better way to build interiors.
