Brilliant ideas are the hot commodity in the 21st century, knowledge-driven economy. "But if you can't them across," businessman Lee Iacocca used to say, "your ideas won't go anywhere."
Honing the skills to sell the concept for a new product, business, or service is the focus of the Second Annual Idea Pitch Competition at Grand Valley State University. Participants in the competition, which is open to all GVSU students, will have 90 seconds to pitch an original, innovative idea without the help of video equipment or other props.
Highlighting the educational value of the compeition, participants must attend pre-contest training sessions to refine their pitch. But a $1,500 and $900 prize will be awared for first and second place, respectively.
The preliminary round of the event will be held February 19, 2007 at the University Club in downtown Grand Rapids. The final round will take place on February 26 at GVSU's Eberhard Center. The compeition is sponsored by the Collegiate Entreprenuers' Organization at GVSU and the Center for Entreprenuership at the university's Seidman College of Business.
