Izzy acquires furniture maker Jami, generates four high-level jobs

By: Deborah Johnson Wood

In early June, Spring Lake-based izzy announced the purchase of Jami Inc’s four furniture brands, Harter, Fixtures Furniture, Zoom Seating and ABCO. The four companies and izzydesign are all part of izzy, a newly created parent entity.

Since the acquisition, izzy created four top-level management positions at the Spring Lake headquarters, positions ranging from CFO to VP of Marketing and Design. izzy filled three positions with high-level personnel from Jami Inc., and one with a new recruit who is relocating to Spring Lake from the United Kingdom.

“We were looking for senior management help in running the company going forward, and the Jami organization had a seasoned management team that fit well with our younger management team,” says Chuck Saylor, CEO and founder. “That helps to strengthen leadership for the future and gets a good process in place for succession planning.”

Izzy also acquired 400 Jami employees located in Kansas City, KS, Florence, AL, and Middlebury, IN.

“It is our hope that we eventually add other West Michigan jobs, but we’re just in the integration planning process and don’t see the need in the short term to make lots of changes,” Saylor adds.
