$5.5M MEDC bond boosts Holland company’s expansion, 25 jobs in view

The Michigan Economic Development Corporation awarded Holland-based Metal Flow Corporation a $5.5 million bond in March for the expansion of a 46,000-square-foot facility and the purchase and installation of new equipment. With that, and the company’s anticipated 12 percent growth, Metal Flow expects to generate 25 jobs.

“This addition brings us up to about 150,000 square feet,” says Kent Jagnow, CFO. “With our normal growth cycle we were pretty much maxing out our space. “We anticipate this adding about 25 jobs over the next three years.”

Ten of those jobs came from an Indiana automotive stampings business Metal Flow recently acquired. The company moved those jobs to Michigan.

Metal Flow is a deep draw metal fabricator that produces high tolerance auto parts such as ABS Systems, fuel delivery systems, connectors, sensor housings, and filter housings. They will be seeking engineers, die setters, toolmakers, machine operators, shipping/receiving, and some office employees to fill the new positions.

The $150 million company currently employees 170 and expects to log sales of $50 million this year.

“We're committed to Michigan,” Jagnow says. “We've had a lot of pressure from customers to move south, but we've made a decision we will not injure Holland in order to accommodate that.”
