The 2,400 jobs Pfizer plans to eliminate in Michigan will have a minimal affect on the economy in greater Grand Rapids, economic experts say. In fact, some suggest the cuts may even help the city's burgeoning life sciences industry by making a number of highly skilled workers available to local firms.
"I think it's an opportunity for Grand Rapids to seek some of that talent pool," Steve Rapundalo, a member of the Ann Arbor Council and former Pfizer employer, told the Grand Rapids Press.
