West MI energy innovators say state power policy long overdue

In an effort to keep pace with rewewable energy advancements in Minnesota, California, and Europe, leaders in Michigan are shaping new policies to promote energy innovation in the Great Lakes state.

Michigan's 21st Century Job Fund, for example, targets $50 million for alternative energy companies. And the state's new energy plan calls for $110 program to promote energy efficiency.

The Muskegon Chronicle's Jeff Alexander intereviewed one local leader who said the changes point Michigan in the right direction, but that they're long overdue.
