The future for West Michigan's economy in the Digital Age depends deeply on the degree to which the region can reignite the entrepreneurial spirit that distinguished it as an economic force in the Industrial Era.
"I would love to have a town full of serial entrepreneuers," Birgit Klohs, president of the Right Place, Inc, told MiBiz.com. "I will tell you this: if we don't support entreprenuers we will not have philanthropy 20 years from now."
Leaders at the Grand Rapids-based economic development firm Right Place, Inc. agree that the region must concentrate on both evolving its worldclass manufacturing industry, and continuing to grow knowledge-based sectors such as the life sciences industry, to compete in the global economy.
