Bruce Thompson graduated from Forest Hills Central and Aquinas College before becoming the vice president of corporate development for ObjectVideo, a Washington D.C.-based video security firm. Now he's coming back home to expand his company in Grand Rapids and potentially add several high tech jobs to the region's emerging environmental innovation industry.
ObjectVideo is partnering with Grand Valley State University to research and develop specialized sensors that control lighting, temperature, and other energy needs in buildings. The company, attracted in part by the region's thriving green building movement, will move its intelligent energy management office to GR to fully participate in the project.
"These are exactly the kind of jobs we want to see coming here," Grand Rapids Mayor George Heartwell told the Grand Rapids Press.
