GR-based website emerging as popular social gathering spot

Move over MySpace. MinoritySpace.com has reported six straight months of growth and now claims to be one of the most popular social networking sites on the Internet. CEO Casey Danford tells the Great Lakes IT Report he intends to pitch the site to venture capitalists and other investors to continue expanding the online presence.

MinoritySpace, operated out of Grand Rapids, provides special services that other online gathering hotspots do not, such as free, unlimited picture and music uploading. Content on the site is tailored to the African American community and other ethnicities, but open to all.

The site today claims thousands of users, including popular rapper Bow Wow.
